Makes modifications to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act to enable custom crush wine producers (boutique wineries) to donate and pour their wine at winetasting events conducted by nonprofit organizations.
The author notes, this bill was introduced following a public meeting in Napa last February with representatives of ABC, the non-profit community, and the wine industry. The meeting addressed the limitations and requirements on wine donations to nonprofits, the inability of Type 17 and Type 20 alcohol licensees to pour their wines at nonprofit fundraisers, and the kinds of event permits that non-profits must have to host any event involving wine.
The author states, "the wine industry has given millions of dollars to important causes in our community and across the state." The author further states, "we shouldn't prohibit or penalize anyone for helping out, as has been done under current law."
