CONTACTING LEGISLATIVE INTENT SERVICE

Some bill research does not include the Governor's file because at the time we researched the bill, the sitting Governor had not released his chaptered bill file. If the Governor's file is not included with this particular research, please contact our office (1-530-666-1917 or quote@legintent.com) and we will be happy to provide this file at no charge if it is available. Please Note: Governor files did not exist prior to 1943.

An attorney looking for legislative intent history research for any statute can contact Legislative Intent Service, Inc. in either one of two ways:

1)   Call our offices (1-800-666-1917) Monday – Friday, between 8:30 – 5:00 and ask to speak to one of the attorneys, or
2)  Send an email to quote@legintent.com and ask us to provide a quote regarding your statute or regulation of interest. 

We will generally take a look at the annotated history for the statute or statutes in question and will provide an email quote to the attorney within a very short time that spells out the different research options, time frames, and fees. 

If the attorney has questions regarding the quote or has determined which bill or bills should be researched, the attorney can contact us by telephone (see above) or “reply” email the staff attorney at LIS who provided the quote in the first place.  We are always happy to answer questions and help the attorneys narrow down their focus. 

If the attorney wishes to place a custom research order, we will set up the order and invoice the DIR at the end of the project with an emailed invoice. If the attorney wishes to place an online store order, they can follow the easy step-by-step instructions provided in our quotes for this service.
