Several Government Code sections relating to subdivisions were affected with the passage of Assembly Bill 1759 of 1982. (See Exhibit A, #1a through #1e) Assembly member Peter Chacon introduced this measure on March 26, 1981. (See Exhibit A, #1a)
Assembly Bill 1759 was assigned to the Assembly Committee on Housing and Community Development and the Senate Committee on Local Government where policy issues raised by the bill were considered. (See Exhibits #3 and #5) Three amendments were made to Assembly Bill 1759. (See Exhibits #1b through #1d and #2) Subsequent to legislative approval, Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr., signed the bill on March 1, 1982 and it was recorded by the Secretary of State on that day as Chapter 87 of the Statutes of 1982. (See Exhibit #1e)
The Enrolled Bill Memorandum to Governor Brown on February 25, 1982, described Assembly Bill 1759 as follows:
This bill would make technical amendments to the statutory procedures prescribed in the Subdivision Map Act.
