Santa Barbara City Ordinance 5256 (October 1, 2002)

Title 22 City of Santa Barbara Codes Chapter 22.04 incorporates by reference Ordinance 5256 containing the City's current language regulating swimming pools.   (See Exhibit A, #1 and #2)    Examining the history notes appended to Chapter 22.04, one sees approximately 17 ordinances composing the development of the language of the text in the current Chapter.  We examined each of these, and others located pre-dating 1981, reviewing approximately 26 Santa Barbara Ordinances.  Our goal was to determine which affected the swimming pool provisions.   

We were able to document the development of the text from 1976 through the current date.  These are provided in Exhibit A, #2 through #11.  Unfortunately, no text is available for the 1971 Ordinance provided.    You will see however by a review of the 1976 Ordinance, the language regulating swimming pools is very simple; the current text has evolved through the years as is demonstrated by the copies provided.
