CA On Track for High-Speed Railway Construction (SB 1029)
On July 18, 2012, Governor Brown signed SB 1029, sending construction of California’s new High-Speed Rail system full speed ahead! This budget bill appropriates $5.8 billion to initiate this cross-state transportation construction from the Central Valley to the Los Angeles Basin, and eventually expanding up to the San Francisco Peninsula (A/C Third Reading Analysis, Page 1). SB 1029 “amends the 2012-13 Budget Act to include appropriations for the construction, planning, design and right-of-way acquisition” for the High-Speed Railway, allowing Californians to look forward to a fast, efficient way of travelling the Golden State (A/C Third Reading Analysis, Page 3).
