Assembly Bill 2160 of 2012

November 14, 2012

Some bill research does not include the Governor's file because at the time we researched the bill, the sitting Governor had not released his chaptered bill file. If the Governor's file is not included with this particular research, please contact our office (1-530-666-1917 or quote@legintent.com) and we will be happy to provide this file at no charge if it is available. Please Note: Governor files did not exist prior to 1943.

AB 2610 (Skinner) revises existing law of providing a 60 days’ notice to California tenants of foreclosure on rented property. This new measure enforces the protection of tenants occupying a foreclosed property by stating that the “owner must give the tenant a 90 days’ notice to vacate” in the case of a “month-to-month lease or periodic tenancy.1”  No need to ‘evict’ this legislation – Governor Brown signed AB 2610 on September 25, 2012 and the law will go into effect on March 1, 2013.
